Marden Fruit Show Curriculum to Careers programme application
The application is for £10,000 to part fund a programme to promote careers in the industry. The full cost of the programme is £22,000. The balance will come from other organisations and individual growers.
The outputs from the programme will include:
- The creation of ‘curriculum to careers’ workshops and supporting literature; these will be supported by growers.
- The creation of supporting materials for industry related careers and materials for use as part of the National Curriculum.
- Attendance at careers fairs.
- And continued delivery of the current National Fruit Show’s education programme and the integration of the new ‘curriculum to careers’ programme.
The Council agreed the application could make an important contribution to the promotion of careers in the sector and on this basis agreed to support the project.
Application for research funding from NIAB East Malling
Screening UK habitat for the presence of Forest bug (Pentatoma rufipes) and Brown marmorated stink bug
The threat from the Marmorated Stink Bug and Forest Bug is seen by the sector as a major threat and a strategy to deal with a potential infection is regarded as an important priority.
The funding will be for the full amount requested.
- £7915 to be paid in 2025.
- £7887 to be paid in 2026.
