Master and Wardens' Dinner 2018

There was a City Theme at Barber-Surgeons’ Hall for the Master and Wardens Dinner which followed the Court Meeting onThursday 8th November 2018
Replying on behalf of the guests, the City of London Police Commissioner Mr Ian Dyson QPM spoke of the many issues surrounding cyber-crime and reassuringly explained how the City of London Police dealt with this modern day crime.
Mr James Smith a fruit grower from Kent spoke enthusiastically of having been a past Fruiterers’ Nuffield Scholar and how this rewarding experience benefited him as a modern day fruit grower.
The Company Guests included Past Sheriffs Alderman Timothy Hailes and Neil Redcliffe Esq JP together with Clerks to the Wax Chandlers and Cooks Companies. The Master’s personal guests included the Masters of the Environmental Cleaners, Turners, Wax Chandlers, Gold and Silver Wyre Drawers and Cooks Companies together with the Immediate Past Master Carman.
Also present was the Honorary Fruit Porter Jimmy Huddart who the Master thanked for his work at the recent Ceremony of Presentation of Fruit to the Lord Mayor and mentioned that the Lord Mayor had written and noted Jimmy’s input and expertise on this important day.
The Master welcomed the newly clothed Liverymen James Simpson and Anthony Upward
In addition to the excellent food and wine there was an abundance of delicious fruit on each table which had been selected and displayed by Liveryman Peter Thomas.
Under the direction of the Beadle Ted Prior and with the evening’s formalities completed an invitation from the Master to participate in a Stirrup Cup was extended to all.
