Bath & West Country Festival 2021

Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic the British Cider Championships were held later in the year at Bath and West - Country Festival - Shepton Mallet - Friday 27 August to Sunday 29 August 2021. On this occasion the Immediate Past Master David Simmons presented for the first time “The Rupert Best Cup” formerly known as the “Worshipful Company of Fruiterers’ Cup” for the Supreme British Cider Champion Cider to Bollhayes Vintage Farmhouse Cider.
A number of Fruiterers were in attendance at the presentation and a full report of the day’s activities will be published in the December 2021 edition of the Fruiterers’ Newsletter.
Cider pioneer scoops top honours in British Cider Championships Alex Hill, of Bollhayes Cider at Cullompton in Devon carried off both the Rupert Best Trophy for the Champion British Cider and the Pewterers’ Trophy for the Champion British Farmhouse cider, for his Farmhouse Dry. It is the first time that a single cider has scooped both the top awards in what is Britain’s biggest and most prestigious cider competition.
