Worshipful Company of Fruiterers' Autumn Reunion Dinner 2021
4th November 2021
It had been 18 months since the Company had dined together and so it was on Thursday 4th November 2021 at Plaisterers’ Hall that the “Reunion Dinner” was held. Some two hundred and fifty people; fellow Fruiterers, their families and guests, were welcomed by the Master, Laurence Olins. The Hall was filled with lively chatter whilst acquaintances were either renewed or newly made.
Speeches were both few and short but the Master was wholesome in his words of thanks to those who had so generously part-sponsored the evening. Berry Gardens was singled out for their gift of the Fruiterers’ Dessert; a selection of berries displayed on the tables to great effect by Liveryman Peter Thomas.
The Master presented two awards during the evening. The Fruiterers’ Under 30s went to Mr Jack Roberts of Avalon Produce Ltd and the Fruiterers’ Farm Management went to Mr Nigel Stewart of A C Goatham & Son.
Formalities over, there followed a most amusing performance by the “Singing Waiters” and then, after a longer than usual Stirrup Cup, the evening regrettably drew to an end.
However, a happy seal had been set on an important milestone in the Company’s pandemic recovery process and many expressions of thanks and appreciation have since been received by the Master.
